Pet Photo Contest | Tuesday, June 30

Submit your photos via Instagram DM to @westernuapartments or email western.apartments@uwo.ca by Tuesday, June 30 at 11:59 p.m. Photos will be shared on Instagram Stories for private voting. The top two entries will each win a $15 PetSmart gift card. We can’t wait to meet your furry, feathered and finned friends!

Important Reminders

Building Security

For everyone’s safety, please do not prop open entrance doors. Open doors allow unauthorized access and put tenants and belongings at risk. Always use your key or student card to ensure doors close securely. Report to the Rental Office if you notice any doors that do not close properly.

 BBQ Parking Notice

Parking around the Platt’s Lane playground will be temporarily closed on Wednesday, June 24 for the Appreciation BBQ. Please plan ahead. Thank you for your understanding—we look forward to seeing you there.

 Garbage Disposal

If a bin is full, please use another available bin to help ensure all waste is collected and prevent overflow.

Tenant Tips & Resources

Facebook Group Name Change

Our Facebook group has a new name now — Western Apartments Community. The updated name reflects the full community, bringing together tenants of Platt’s Lane Estates, Beaver and Ausable Halls and Bayfield Hall.

The group remains your go-to place for getting to know your neighbours, upcoming events, reminders and tenant updates. You can also stay connected by following us on Instagram at @westernuapartments

 Common Household Pests

Warmer weather brings more insects indoors. Most are harmless and tend to favour dark, humid spaces. Common pests include spiders, stink bugs, silverfish and earwigs.

If you spot something, please try to identify the type of bug before reaching out to the Rental Office. This helps us point you in the right direction and determine if pest control is needed. Ant traps are also available at the Rental Office upon request.

 Car Safety Tips

A few simple steps can help keep our community safe:

  • Always check that your vehicle is locked and windows are fully closed.
  • Keep valuables (bags, electronics, loose change) out of sight.
  • Where possible, remove items from your vehicle altogether.

If you notice suspicious activity or experience a break-in, report it immediately to Western Special Constable Service at 519-661-3300 (available 24/7).

Security patrols run daily from 10:00 p.m.–6:00 a.m. in Platt’s Lane, alongside regular Campus Special Constable rounds. Over the summer, patrols will also cover Bayfield, Beaver and Ausable parking lots.

 Laundry Rate Update

Effective August 1, Coinamatic will be increasing laundry rates to $2.50 per wash or dry cycle. We understand this may affect your monthly expenses and appreciate your understanding.
